My first experience making tools I gained in a toolmaking factory in the early seventies, after that I studied at the Schoonhoven ‘School for clock and watch making’. For many years I had my own workshop, restoring and repairing all kinds of clocks. Now I am a schoolteacher in fine metal works, have been so for the last 25 years.

I became interested in making violin tools through my son, Hubert de Launay, who is a violin maker and is currently based in London.

Making tools with a unique finishing touch, leading back to my clock making days, is the thing I like most. All my tools are made by hand and I only use high quality materials for my designs.
